Today I am just amazed at the things MY LORD is doing! Though things in the natural world (USA)seem on an utterly downward spiral, I have such excitement inside me of what MY GOD is about to do. HE IS THE ONE IN CHARGE....(not Obama) WOW!
I just wish I could "tell everyone" how I feel about Our Lord today. It just gets better and better. Though Don's mother had a terrible fall last Saturday and broke her leg, she has come through it like a trooper. She will be in the hospital a few more days and then be transferred to a place for rehab. Don's brother Dan arrived from Myrtle Beach Thursday, so Don isn't having to go to Spartanburg as much right now.
I have been praying alot lately for certain things...and wouldn't you know it...GOD HAS ANSWERED MY PRAYERS! IN HIS WAY AND IN HIS TIMING...BUT HE IS NEVER LATE...RIGHT ON TIME. We just get impatient and try to "do it all ourselves" when we think HE is not doing anything. HE IS ALWAYS WITH US...ALWAYS IN EVERYTHING...EVERY, LITTLE,THING...! All that's required is complete trust and faith in HIM! Listening to HIS VOICE moment by moment....so simple, yet "religion" has made it so hard! I TRULY FEEL LIKE A CHILD AGAIN (I am 64) ! And that is how he wants us to come to HIM...as a little child comes to his parents fully believing that they will give them what they need...AT THE RIGHT TIME!
Nothing has changed in our "natural circumstances" and that doesn't really matter. What matters and gives us TRUE JOY is our relationship with Jesus....HIM ALONE!
THAT'S THE JOY UNSPEAKABLE....FULL OF GLORY...even here in little ol Union,SC...with an unemployment rate of 22%...OH HOW GOD IS WAITING TO SHOW HIMSELF STRONG ON OUR BEHALF IN THIS TOWN....SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON !!! Have a wonderful day and go to church on Sunday...it will be good for you. Don & Carol

BORN AGAIN AGAIN !
That is the phrase that came to me yesterday after a wonderful time in The Word with God and communicating with HIM! Actually, it was Monday that something "ignited" in my spirit while reading my daily devotional from MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST, Oswald Chambers. He was talking about our NEW HERITAGE IN JESUS CHRIST BECAUSE OF REDEMPTION! I have heard this all my life since I got saved at 10 years of age in Charleston, SC - Ashley River Baptist Church and was Baptised there. I can still vividly remember that day and the night I was Baptised. I was only 10, but it was something I have never forgotten. Over the years I attended church all the time and my life growing up consisted of Sunday Mornings, Sunday Evenings, Wednesday Evengings,BTU,GAs,YOUTH CHOIR,SWORD DRILLS,CHURCH CAMPS, ETC. in the 50's & 60"s. I was also so involved with school that I never had time to get into trouble and I thank God for my Dear parents who are with Jesus now - for giving me the upbringing they did. I was a cheerleaderin highschool in Atlanta for 5 years and I feel like I am somewhat of a cheerleader for Jesus now!
I strayed from the Lord somewhat when I went off to college even though it was a Baptist College...Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. That is where I met Don and we got married, moved to Union, had three children in Union and got involved in Buffalo Baptist Church where Don grew up...(a mill village church)! Now there is no more mill, but THE CHURCH STILL STANDS! Alan...our middle son, accepted
Jesus as his Saviour at Buffalo when he was 10 and was very serious about it. Over the years our others followed suit in other churches and we were a fixture in the church in Charlotte we attended. It was wonderful, but for me....something was missing and I didn't know I was even missing it until Monday..July 24th, 2010! We started a business and it grew rapidly and we gave abundantly and we continued to grow in the Lord and in Business and had great success financially, however there came a time when we let the spiritual aspect of our lives slide a bit and thus.......lots of things happened which eventually led us back to Union, SC in God's perfect timing and His Plan though I didn't think so at first. Now things are becoming clearer and clearer to me spiritually why things happened the way they did.
I wont go into that because that is the PAST! HALLELUIA! ALL THINGS ARE NEW!
Now to being Born Again Again....I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that I was studying geneology and family history....(natural family). But suddenly....and I do mean suddenly - ithout any forewarning I was reading about "redemption" and what Jesus did for us on the cross...things I had head knowledge of and believed by faith, but for some reason I felt like I was not where I needed to be in the area of having a hunger for the LOST! I had been asking the Lord about this recently and in years past. But Monday morning something happened to me just by reading the Bible and I had a "RHEMA" WORD ABOUT REDEMPTION AND THE CROSS.......ITS ALL ABOUT JESUS! I saw we have a "new Heritage" in him. The old "fleshly" nature is still there, but our Spirits are white as snow and pure just as if we had never sinned.
Now this is nothing new to Christian Terminology...but for me it became a LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE!
A funny thing happened to me last Friday while in the library...I only got to use the computer for l hour. So that is why I didn't "blog". I then went to the geneology computers and began to look things up about my natural family and you know, where in the past I had been able to find lots of information and pull it up....I could not find one....not ONE NATURAL Ancestor in that computer Friday!!! Well...that puzzled me until the "Rhema" I received on Monday. I believe the Lord was preparing me for Monday's revelation to me. It emcompasses so much I feel that I have only begun to understand what HE is showing me about this. I think of the man in the bible who asked Jesus if he must "enter again into his mothers womb" to be born again!? Of course that is not what Jesus was saying.
My past is the past....my sins are ALL washed away and I have a NEW HERITAGE IN JESUS! He has given me the Holy Spirit as my comforter to work through me and Jesus himself is my "Spiritual Brother" and HE IS EVER INTERCEDING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER FOR ME !! JESUS IS MY HERITAGE....THE FATHER, SON, HOLY GHOST !
WOW ! What an amazing thought!
HIS GRACE IS EVERLASTING AND WHERE SIN ABOUNDS , GREAT GRACE ABOUNDS !
HIS UNMERITED FAVOR! AND WE ALL HAVE ACCESS TO THAT THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST AND HIS REDEMPTION FOR US.

JULY 24TH, 2010 SATURDAY - TODAY
This saturday started out like most Saturdays and it was a day for Don to take his mother to shop early (8am) before it got hot. I just stayed at home in the cool air and read. I got a phone call about noon or so and it was Don. He was at the Hospital in Union with his Mother. She had felt ill while they were out shopping, and so they went home. When they got to her house she was changing clothes and Don was watering her flowers (HIS actually-HE planted them)........
She had somehow fallen while changing clothes and hit her head and had her feet and legs crumpled underneath her and couldnt move. He got a neighbor to help him lift her up on the bed and then the ambulance was there. She was in excruciating pain and bleeding profusely from her head. Bear in mind she is 89! The took x-rays and CT scans here in Union and then transported her to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. As it turned out she had broken her leg between her "artificial knee" and "artificial hip". A very complicated break. They did surgery on her Sunday morning at 10 am and the surgeon said everything went perfect. She actually looked alot better after surgery than before she went in. They are keeping her pain at bay and it is going to be a slow recovery, especially since she also has Myasthenia Gravis which is a muscle disease that they just discovered about 2 months ago. At her age they don't know exactly how the "normal" treatments for this disease are going to affect her. Today...three days post op, they have decided to do "plasmapherisis" on her AGAIN. Just 6 weeks ago she had it done and was in the hospital for 2 weeks and it helped her a great deal. So......at 3:30 I talked to Don and they had her sitting up in a chair and had been preparing her for the treatment. It usually takes about 2hours or more for one treatment and they can only do them as she is able.
So thank you all who I have advised on facebook for your prayers and those of you who will read this blog. She has a long recovery ahead of her according to the surgeon and we covet your prayers on her behalf and ours too. She definitely will have to go into a nursing home straight from the hospital and receive therapy etc. So....CHANGE....for all the family. Myles Monroe has a book published in 2009 about "Change" and I have just begun to read it. Sooooooo!
Thank you all for your prayers and will keep you posted as I can.

SIGHTS & SOUNDS
Hello everyone! Its been a week since I have "blogged" and it only seems like a day. Lots has happened since then. That was last Wednesday July 21st, 2010. I had not planned to blog today either, but somehow I just felt impressed to get to the library and write! As I drove into town I came to the main intersection before entering main street and right in front of me turned two (2) limosines. This was ususual for me because some weeks ago at the very exact spot one (1) limosine turned right at the same spot in front of me and went on in to Union...for what I know not. SIGHTS! Was there some "important" official in the cars? Or maybe they were family cars returning from a funeral of someone in Union who had passed away. I honestly don't know, however it really caught my attention when I saw them today. They were "New" ones...not old. They were jet black and it seemed to me there was some importance in my seeing them. I just turned right at the hospital to come to the library and watched them as they went on down toward main street in Union.....wondering?
Then I got to the library and the parking lot was full of cars and I thought I might have to wait again on a computer, however that proved not to be so. So here I am. As I walked into the library I began to hear "SOUNDS"....."sounds of the City of Union at 5pm". Church bells were ringing out the time...I heard what sounded like an ice cream truck somewhere down the street and then I heard a car alarm going off....all in the space of about a minute! SOUNDS! So what is this telling me today. Life is always going on around us whether we realize it or not. Even in our small town of Union, SC. There is always something going on. I happened to have my radio station on a Charlotte NC station as I drove in and realize things are going on as usual there.
As I am writing, I am listening to beautiful worship music....Amazing Love...Amazing Grace...I've been SET FREE! (thanks to my new pastor's wife Michelle and her blog on web). By the way...they will be here and preaching on August 8th. Can't Wait. Watch for the good things that God is going to do in Union in the future....and more importantly at Buffalo Baptist Church where we are members.
I sense another topic coming on and I need to do another "title" so that is all for "sights and sounds" in Union Today.

HEALTH & WELLNESS WEDNESDAY
Here I am again at 3:30 doing my thing in the library. Had to wait again today. This is a popular place everyday! Its really hot in Union, about 95 degrees. Supposed to get hotter tomorrow. So thankful for airconditioning!
This morning I was reading about being healthy and staying well and the older I get I realize that this is a very important part of my life. I only wish I had paid attention to things like this when I was younger. However its never too late to start.
There are many ways that people will tell you are the way to stay healthy: eating nutritiously,
exercise, get the proper amount of sleep, drinking lots of water, etc. But what I read this morning just made some points that maybe we need to listen to a bit closer.
For example, being able to give and receive love is very important. A heart that loves and spreads Joy builds a stronger immune system. Did you know that? And your own emotional and spiritual growth depend on loving yourself and others.
Having an "Attitude of Gratitude" will also bring you more happiness, health, and calm. Count your blessings! Focus on the Positive things in your life, not the things that you can do nothing about! Stressing over things you cannot change will make you "age faster". It also puts a burden on your immune system. Free yourself from worry and accept what you cannot change and move on. (ie-Give it to God)
I think the most important thing in staying healthy is developing a personal relationship with God. This will cultivate your own well-being and happiness - so "nourish your spirit" ! Studies have shown that people who "nuture their spiritual-selves daily" get benefits such as lower blood pressure, fewer strokes, and less emotional turmoil. Those with strong spiritual ties lose weight more easily, handle crises better, and have a stronger social life.
All of the above things can be backed up with scriptures throughout the Bible. Proverbs has a lot to say. Also Nehemiah 8:10 says, "The Joy of The Lord Is Your Strength" ! Proverbs 17:22 says, "A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like a Medicine" ! So I determine to not worry - be happy - love myself and others, and to be grateful to God for all the Good Things that are happening in my life today.
Well, guess that is something I wanted to put in print for myself and others who may read this blog. I think I am going to have a great time writing as the Lord leads me and keeping people informed about our lives here in Union, SC.
Yesterday, Don took his Mother to the neurologist in Spartanburg. She has a disease called Myasthenia Gravis...very rare at her age (89). It causes her muscles to not function properly and has something to do with her immune system too. The doctors really don't know how certain treatments will affect her because of her age....so please say a prayer for her and our whole family as we help her through this time.
She is a Great Lady and has done much in her lifetime to benefit not only her family but others in the community as well. She has always been one to help others and not require help for herself, so this is a hard time for her. Thanks for your prayers.
Have a great week and weekend everyone in Union and wherever you are! I may not write again this week.....but then I may. Bye for now.

It's Monday and I Finally Got Online !
It is about 3:30pm on Monday the 19th of July and I am just now getting on a computer in the library. I had to wait a bit for one to come open. While waiting I went to the geneology section of the library and found a book with a history of my maiden name...Vance....in it. I already have a book written in 1982 about the Vance's of Piedmont NC, but love looking further. I found that the Vance family name was one of the very first families of settlers in Union, SC back in the 1750's when the Indians were here. That's probably why my boys found arrowheads etc. back in the 70's as they roamed our property on the Tyger River. The Indians usually lived near water so I imagine they lived right where we are living now. I also know from some further studies that there were Indian Raids back during that early era and settlers had to "fortify" themselves from being killed! It is also quite a co-incidence that we live in the Cross Keys Area of Union County and I went to Cross Keys High School in Atlanta, GA and they were called the Indians?! Ya Know....that is really interesting isn't it?
Yesterday we had a surprise at church. Pastor Gideon Long had invited his Grandson to preach.
He was young and a student at Seminary, but he could really preach! We also found out that our New Pastor and His Family will be here and preaching by August 8th. At Buffalo Bapt. we have been without a full-time pastor for over a year and a half and we are so glad that Michael and Michelle Wingertsahn and Nathan and Anna-Marie are coming to be with us as Pastors. They are moving here from Thomaston, GA. They grew up near Atlanta in Lilburn, GA and then went to Valdosta State University where they both got saved and they married and then Michael went to Seminary. They have been Pastoring for 3 years in Thomaston, GA and we are so greatful they have accepted the call to Pastor in Buffalo, SC. I know their church in Thomaston will miss them, but God has great things for them to do in our community and we can't wait !!
I am still trying to get used to this "blogging" thing.....but I am getting the hang of it slowly. I taught myself years ago how to use the computer...so I just start typing and see where it takes me. I heard today from a dear friend in Atlanta who has been very influential in my life over the years and was so glad to hear from her....She is a Great Encourager! And a very Godly Woman.
There are alot of things I could say, I suppose, however I need to do some other things today and my time is limited. I will be so glad when I get a New Computer At Home with Satellite Service......I have a lot of writing to do and the Lord is leading me in a direction he told me he would years ago....its just timing...and HIS TIMING IS ALWAYS PERFE CT !
Have a great week everyone!

ITS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT THE LIBRARY!
Hello everyone....(or whoever may read this) I am in the Union County SC Carnegie Library (best small library in the USA 2009) doing some computer work and thot I would just say a few things about Union. Union is a great place to live and raise your children. Although we presently have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country....there are many job possibilities close by and after living in Charlotte,NC for so many years...a simple 30 min. drive to Spartanburg is nothing.
I live 10 minutes west of the downtown area in the Cross Keys Area and can leave my house and be anywhere in Union within less than 15 minutes. I love it! Charlotte was a great place to live, but I sure don't miss the traffic. In Union....there is NEVER a traffic jam ! Oh my...what a relief....
Two of my grandaughters are at the beach this week. Casey is at Myrtle Beach with friends and Nikki is in Daytona with friends. Hope they are having a good time. Only way I know this is because I keep up with them on facebook. Facebook is really a wonderful networking site I think. You just have to know what you are doing and where you are posting things and also be aware that "public posts" on FB can bring unpleasant results at times. This I have experienced, however it is not stopping me from using the network. I have found so many old friends this way and hope I continue to. People you KNEW were your "friends" way back still are and some aren't. And then there are those who you didn't really "travel in the same circle with", but you find now that you have much in common as the years have passed. Isn't technology exciting!
Don has been busy helping his Mother (89) today. Yesterday we had a great day at home...just the two of us...no computers...no people...just us and doing things mostly inside the house since it was so HOT outside.
Tomorrow is Saturday already....and then Church on Sunday. We love our little Baptist Church in Buffalo and are quite excited that we are getting a new Pastor and his Family in August sometime. Pastor Gideon Long has been filling in for a year and a half or so and doing a great job...but he is retired from the ministry and needs his time off now! Our pulpit committee searched diligently for the Pastor that God would have at this time and very hour and since meeting them I am so sure that Our God knows just exactly what he is doing in bringing this couple and their children here to Union County, SC. I already feel a "kindred" spirit with them. Look for great things to happen at Buffalo and also all over Union County in the days, weeks, months, years to come. There are a lot of PRAYING PEOPLE here and have been for a lot of years....praying in Unity for the City and County! I am glad God has allowed us to be a part of what HE is doing in Union at this time. UNITY - THAT IS WHY WE ARE CALLED UNION!
