JULY 24TH, 2010 SATURDAY - TODAY

This saturday started out like most Saturdays and it was a day for Don to take his mother to shop early (8am) before it got hot. I just stayed at home in the cool air and read. I got a phone call about noon or so and it was Don. He was at the Hospital in Union with his Mother. She had felt ill while they were out shopping, and so they went home. When they got to her house she was changing clothes and Don was watering her flowers (HIS actually-HE planted them)........
She had somehow fallen while changing clothes and hit her head and had her feet and legs crumpled underneath her and couldnt move. He got a neighbor to help him lift her up on the bed and then the ambulance was there. She was in excruciating pain and bleeding profusely from her head. Bear in mind she is 89! The took x-rays and CT scans here in Union and then transported her to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. As it turned out she had broken her leg between her "artificial knee" and "artificial hip". A very complicated break. They did surgery on her Sunday morning at 10 am and the surgeon said everything went perfect. She actually looked alot better after surgery than before she went in. They are keeping her pain at bay and it is going to be a slow recovery, especially since she also has Myasthenia Gravis which is a muscle disease that they just discovered about 2 months ago. At her age they don't know exactly how the "normal" treatments for this disease are going to affect her. Today...three days post op, they have decided to do "plasmapherisis" on her AGAIN. Just 6 weeks ago she had it done and was in the hospital for 2 weeks and it helped her a great deal. So......at 3:30 I talked to Don and they had her sitting up in a chair and had been preparing her for the treatment. It usually takes about 2hours or more for one treatment and they can only do them as she is able.
So thank you all who I have advised on facebook for your prayers and those of you who will read this blog. She has a long recovery ahead of her according to the surgeon and we covet your prayers on her behalf and ours too. She definitely will have to go into a nursing home straight from the hospital and receive therapy etc. So....CHANGE....for all the family. Myles Monroe has a book published in 2009 about "Change" and I have just begun to read it. Sooooooo!

Thank you all for your prayers and will keep you posted as I can.
